![]() That's why I was even more amazed when I received the watch. I had been eyeing this model for quite some time, and as seldom as the watch gets listed for sale, the price offered at True Facet was simply unbeatable. So with everything in mind, I decided to take a chance on my first watch from True Facet, a Jaeger LeCoultre Master Calendar - the older model with the power reserve at 12. Most importantly, I never felt any pressure to buy. And when I had concerns about shipping time, Tirath, the CEO, was quick to assist and address any potential issues. She explained True Facet's return policy, how certain watches are sourced, including True Facet's guaranty of authenticity. However, Rachel, who helped me, was very knowledgeable, responsive and friendly, answering any and all questions I had. That's why I was a little reluctant about the Jaeger LeCoultre listed on True Facet, having never seen the actual watch in person. Due to the care I received, I would gladly recommend this company without a doubt to any of my watch wearing friends!Īs an avid watch collector, I'm still a little hesitant to purchase timepieces online, especially when the cost is in the thousands of dollars. Great business model, and overall excellent staff. The price of the watch was by far not at the top of their list, yet I was treated as if I were buying their $200,000 Patek Phillipe. Not only did I receive a great looking luxury watch in time for the wedding (which by the way, looked exactly like those in the pictures), but they really took care of my delivery request and left me feeling like a special client. Through the week, I maintained contact with the manager and one other team manager, and they lived up to their promise! They made sure the watch would pass their verification process (which is normally upwards of five days already) and made sure to ship it to arrive all within an acceptable time frame. ![]() I wrote an email to True Facet after purchasing the watch, and within 10 minutes on a Sunday night, their customer service manager emailed back. I recently purchased a watch from TrueFacet, and of course, like most people - made a last minute decision to purchase a week before I wanted to wear the watch at a special occasion (my friends wedding).

You can either just use black paint, or mix in some white glue with your black paint. Since I will want to start painting the wall with a black base anyway, adding the black paint to the Mod Podge simply saves a step in the process. This allows for all sorts of effects to be added in, but another important feature is that the darker colours act like shadows in the areas that are hard for finer brushes to reach. The basic concept of painting dioramas is to start with the darkest colour first, and work up to the lightest. This both covers the ugly foam colour and prevents it from leaking through the lighter paint colours that will go over top of it. Mod Podge dries clear, so I add black paint to it. This will act as a barrier to our foam and make it more resistant to getting marked up with bangs and scratches. Brushes, selection tools, managing document sizes, changing. It’s probably the best place to start because it covers a lot of what you’d need to know for getting started drawing and painting. Mod Podge is, basically, white glue (also called PVA glue), with a bit of epoxy in it. The very popular JelArts channel on YouTube put together this brief video on Paint Tool SAI for beginners. The first step is to apply a mixture of Mod Podge and black paint. To overcome this, I use a two-part process to seal and paint foam. It also dries quickly and doesn’t require a primer on foam, which is nice.įoam is still soft though, and doesn’t wear well. Second, it is water soluble and easy to work with. My paint of choice is acrylic craft paint. (Note: We also use white glues instead of super glues for the same reason-super glue melts foam.) So I avoid spray paint when it comes to foam. However if not used properly, spray paint can melt the foam, which will undo all of our hard work up to this point. ![]() The easiest way to cover a large area is with spray paint. Visually it is a mess of that ugly foam pattern, and the printing the manufacturer put on the foam, as well as random inks from the pens used to create the brick patterns.Ĭhoosing the right paint to use on foam must be done carefully. Thus, Bowie might have been a formative influence for Smith but he also picked him back up later down the line. “But when I heard Earthling in 1997, I went back to Bowie,” Smith explains. What else can you do? What else can you do for anyone but inspire them?” As Bob Dylan, the man who pretty much started the engine said, “The highest purpose of art is to inspire. In the end, to challenge our fans is to love them, even if it means losing them.” You could say the same for Bowie and Smith too-whether they’ve dropped you off or are carrying you to terminus, they’ll have made their mark along the way and that is pretty much the pinnacle of art. I can only say that I am truly grateful to have been a part of their journey, and that they have been part of ours. ![]() It was a feat of his ability that his evolution moved things along.Īs the equally ever-evolving Nick Cave would put it: “With each new record, almost inevitably some fans will move on. The punk movement began in 1975-76 and that’s what attracted me.” In a strange way, that proved that Bowie’s job was done. It was weird, like questioning your own parents. In this regard, Bowie made the world more bohemian and soon kids were able to come up with their own corroborations on his singular design. “And then, I bought Heroes and I criticised it because I began to have my own opinion. When David Bowie appeared on Top of the Pops a generation of youths wondered: Who was this creation and what kind of monster bore it? Smith was one of the fellows scratching his chin with wonderment. When you strip away the specifics, the arc of this tale is akin to another music hero who faltered in the world of mime trying to make it big before weaving a string of avant-garde, mainstream-defying influences, that captured a massive alternative audience. In this unnatural spotlight, they managed to influence the influx of alternative bands that lay ahead and like Van Helsing on holiday, they managed to grab a legion of followers in this foreign commercial land. And yet, like the world’s strongest baby, Robert Smith and his cohorts in The Cure defied all expectation and went from shuffling about shoegazing, crept out from a darkened corner of dark wave and captivated a fair chunk of the mainstream. A fumbling goth hit machine seems like a dichotomy as profound as an igloo in the desert. While problems with exit vents aren’t the only factors that can lead to a dryer not drying well, they’re by far the most common. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends choosing an aluminum semi-rigid duct, because a flexible plastic or foil tube can more easily trap lint, and that buildup can lead to overheating. Heat-resistant aluminum tape, however, won’t falter and is, therefore, better for the job.Īn important word of caution: If you’re using one of those exit hoses that look like a Slinky covered with vinyl, replace it. (While screws and rivets usually make good fasteners, they’re sure to snag lint if they’re holding together joints in dryer vents-when used, they should be covered.) Do keep in mind that duct tape can and will melt when exposed to heat, which could cause the piece of tape to peel back enough so that it becomes a lint magnet. Sealing the interior and exterior joints will prevent air leaks as well as keep lint from catching at these locations. If you can, consider moving your dryer to a position that allows for a shorter hose. That’s not only a nuisance, but it’s also a waste of energy (and money). If the air exiting the dryer has to be pushed too far or make its way around kinks or sags in the hose, drying times can significantly lengthen. ![]() Keep in mind that the exit vent on your dryer should be as straight and as short as possible. This cleaning job isn’t that big a chore, especially if you use one of the brush kits made for this express purpose ( like this one from Amazon). If the lint filter and the exit of the vent are clear, you probably need to clean the inner reaches of the vent. You can purchase one at your local home center or have it delivered from Amazon. Instead, install a proper louvered door that opens only when the dryer’s running. If you have mesh screening stretched across it, you’d do well to remove the mesh, which can catch lint and obstruct airflow and prevent your clothes from drying completely. ![]() When the dryer’s running, there should be a steady, unhindered stream of warm air passing through the vent exit. Inspect where the dryer vent exits the house. Indeed, failure to clean the dryer is the leading cause of dryer fires, according to the U.S. ![]() But no matter the load, getting into the habit of wiping the filter out after every wash and dry will put you ahead of the game in both routine appliance maintenance and fire prevention. Some types of clothing-socks, especially-shed more than others. Sure, you’ve heard this before, but you really do need to empty the dryer’s lint filter after every load.
